As the US prepares once again to extend the Patriot Act, a new report from a privacy watchdog indicates that the FBI's use of the law and other surveillance powers may have led to as many as 40,000 violations of the law by the bureau in the years since 9/11.

According to documents obtained by the Electronic Frontier Foundation, from 2001 to 2008 the FBI reported nearly 800 violations of surveillance law and the Constitution to the Intelligence Oversight Board, a civilian monitoring group that reports to the president.

One can only surmise that the FBI is merely the tip of the iceberg in this criminality. Other snoop orgs are most likely up to things that would make the hair on the back of one's neck stand on end should they be exposed.

And as our 2 party special interest serving mafia gets ready to extend the ever-treasonous Patriot Act, I'm sure as under the radar as possible, these violations and criminal intrusions into the lives of American citizens will just continue to roll on, unabated, and unchallenged. More "change" we can all believe in. But it's all for "our safety" right? LMAO

The fbi is worldwide powers now because of the patriot act. They search the globe trying to get people to want to do something to America, by ruining lifes.

Amazing, if you never want to goto usa, they can target you, and absolutely ruin a life for nothing.

That damn patriot act is the most unpatriotic thing I've ever seen.

It was set to expire, it should have expired.

But it just goes to prove the old adage if you give 'em an inch, they'll take a mile. And here we are 10 years later proving it's true as they extend it yet again.

This is crazy. That's a lot of violations. Tip of the iceberg indeed.

It will indeed be very interesting indeed to see if this concern is addressed along with the many others regarding our privacy in the new version of the Patriot Act. It doesn't sound too promising, though, does it?

"While many hoped the era of abusive FBI practices would end with the Bush Administration, there is little evidence that President Obama has taken significant measures to change past intelligence abuses," the EFF stated.
